How do you make a new document for patterns?
For creating a document go to the file menu then select new, where the width is 400 and height 400 pixels, the resolution is 72 pixels, the color mode is RGB, and the background content will be transparent then click ok.
How do you create the very first mermaid shape?
1. First go to the rectangle tool and select the ellipse tool, click on your canvas to create an ellipse, here ellipse width and height will be 200/200 pixels, then click ok.
2. Set the stroke color it will be black and the stroke width will be 20 pixels. Now press Ctrl+ A to select your canvas then select the move tool and align your shape, now press Ctrl+ D to deselect the area.
3. Hit on the view menu and select new guide, here new guide orientation will be horizontal and the position is 50%, then ok.

4. Now set the ruler guide in the middle of the shape, after that go to the layer panel here right click on the layer and rasterize it, now select the rectangular marquee tool and here marquee tool, toolbar style will be normal, now select the shape’s bottom area, then right-click on the canvas and select layer via cut. Then select the top layer and right click on it and delete it.
After that duplicate the layer two times and move the duplicated shape at the bottom of the main shape. Here set the ruler guide in the middle of both duplicated shapes.
5. Now select your ruler area through the rectangular marquee tool,
then go to the image menu and crop it.
After that select 3 layer and merge them. Select the move tool and move the shape to the top of the horizontal ruler guide.
After that duplicate the layer and place the shape to the bottom of the main shape.
6. After that go to the edit menu, here select define pattern and save it.
7. Now again go to file menu and create a new document, Here width and height is 1200/800 pixels, the color mode will be RGB, the background contents will be white, then click Ok.
8. Click on the layer panel then unlock the layer, then click on the new fill and adjustment option, here select pattern, in the pattern window click drop down menu and select the pattern which you saved, here set the pattern scale it’s 10%. Then click ok.
9. In this step go to new fill and adjustment option, then select solid color, and now select a color which you want, then press ok. Then Right click on the color fill 1 layer, and here select create clipping mask. Now Select background layer, choose color for background and apply it.
Now here the pattern is Complete
