Here I will show you how to create Japanese wave pattern in Photoshop which is important for graphic designing and textile design. So, let’s start.
How to create a document for Pattern?
First, create a new document, to create a document go to the file menu then click on the new, where the width is 2400 and the height is 2400 pixels, the resolution is 72 pixels, the color mode is RGB, and the background content will be transparent then click ok.
How do you make the very first Rainbow shape?
1. First, click on the rectangle tool and select the ellipse tool, Now click on your canvas and set the ellipse size, here width and height will be 1200/1200 pixels, then click ok.
2. Now press Ctrl+ A to select the area then click on the move tool and align your shape to the middle of the canvas. After alignment, press Ctrl+ D to deselect the area.

3. Now press Ctrl+ T and set the fill color, it is red and the stroke color will be none.
Then go to the layer panel and duplicate the layer, here I will select the green color for the second shape. After that Press Ctrl+ T and set the width and the height of your shape and it will be 75%/ 75%.
Now again we will duplicate our first layer which is red, after duplicating, moving the layer to the top of the all layer.
Then press Ctrl+ T and set the width and height it will be 50%/ 50%, Now set the fill color it will be yellow. Then go to the layer panel and select all layers and rasterize it.
Now Set the ruler guide horizontally in the middle of the shape, after that select the top layer, then go to the rectangular marquee tool here select the top portion of the shape through the rectangular marquee tool.
Then press Ctrl+ j to duplicate the layer after duplicating, delete the original layer.
Now select the next two layers and do the same thing.
4. Now select 3 layers and right-click on them to convert them smart objects. Then press Ctrl+ J and duplicate your layer, drag your layer vertically down and set its middle portion on the guideline, and here set the guideline vertically to both sides of the shape.
Then select your first layer and drag it on top of the other layer, After that duplicate your top layer and place it to the bottom portion of the other shape.
5. Now through the color picker, pick the yellow color from your shape, go to the layer panel, select Create new fill and adjustment option then select solid color here already our color is selected it is yellow and fill it. Then drag your color fill layer to the bottom of every layer.
6. Now select the first two layers and press, Ctrl+ T, then drag it vertically down and set it to the proper place for the pattern.
After that, select the top second layer, and press ctrl+ T, here set the ruler guide to the middle portion of the shape. Now create a new layer, and create a rectangle in the guided area through the rectangular marquee tool.
Now move the rectangle to the upper portion of the guideline, and set a ruler guide vertically of the upper portion of the rectangle, now go to the layer panel and the layer visibility, where rectangle shapes are present.
7. Now select the top two layers and duplicate them. after duplicating the layer move both layers the upward where the middle guideline is present.
Now go to the layer panel and drag two layers to the bottom of every layer except the background layer.
8. In this step hit on the the rectangular marquee tool and select the guided area, then go to the edit menu, here select define Pattern and save the pattern.
9. After that Open a new document, where width and the height is 2000/900 pixels. The color mode will be RGB, and the background contents will be white, then click Ok.
10. In the last step go to the layer panel and unlock the layer, then go to the new fill and adjustment option, here select pattern, in the pattern window click drop down menu and select the pattern. and here set pattern scale it’s 10%. Then click ok.
NOW THE PATTERN IS COMPLETE
